About 't Vosken

Eating the way it should be, in the heart of Ghent.

If you’ve ever been to Ghent, chances are you’ve passed by ’t Vosken on Saint Bavo’s Square. Even more likely: you followed your nose and ended up on our terrace, with a cold beer or a warm bowl of waterzooi in front of you. And admit it… not a bad plan.

’t Vosken isn’t new to the scene — since 1908, this house has been part of Ghent’s history. First as a hotel, later as a brasserie with a mission: bringing people together around good food. Since 1988, Alain Schwartz and Christine Geirnaert have kept the flame alive — and you can taste their passion in every sauce.

From stoverij to world wines

No fancy culinary showpieces here that need an explanation. Just honest Ghent classics that taste like grandma made them (minus the washing up): stoverij with fries, waterzooi, rabbit cooked the old-fashioned way… Call it edible heritage. Feeling adventurous? We’ve got international options too — like Irish rib-eye or turkey with a Normandy twist.

Got a sweet tooth? We’ve got you. From chocolate and cakes to a nostalgic scoop of ice cream. And if you prefer something stronger: our wine list flows smoothly from Bordeaux to Uruguay. Santé!

Where tourists become locals (and locals stay loyal)

’t Vosken is a place where locals and tourists bump into each other — sometimes literally, on the terrace. Babies in buggies, students with cravings, businesspeople on lunch, families on a day out, stylish dogs — everyone’s welcome here. That’s the magic of ’t Vosken: it feels a bit like coming home, even if you’re from far away.

Between world-famous art and Belgian stew

Centrally located? Let’s just say: you’d have to try hard not to find us. Right between the Ghent Altarpiece, the Belfry and NTGent — on a sunny square full of history and atmosphere. A terrace with a view of art and stoverij — that’s Ghent at its finest.
